May we pique your curiosity with something new?
How about letting us show you the "two faces" of your GS
(and a chance to take the new BMW S1000 RR out for a fast lap)?
Join us for a Fast and Dirty weekend!
What do we mean by "Fast and Dirty?" Simple - The BMW GS is an amazing bike, both on the street AND off road. The Fast and Dirty three-day program is designed to give you a taste of both sides of GS ownership. We are sure all of you know of the BMW GS's legendary abilities as a "go anywhere" touring motorcycle. And most of you at least have heard how capable the GS is in the dirt, and of course that's how we at the BMW Off-Road Academy have built our reputation.
But the big GS is also an extremely competent road & track bike and we thought it could be both fun and informative to put together a program which
showcase's both aspects of the GS on the same weekend.
So an opportunity came our way with the release of BMW's new super bike the S1000RR. BMW has chosen the legendary Keith Code and his California Superbike School to be the official operator of their "Go Fast" program - how cool is that?!
It just seemed to be a natural fit for the BMW Off Road Academy and Keith Code to work together. I met Keith at the IMS show in Long Beach last December and we hashed out the basic premise for this event - A day on the track and 2 days in the dirt; a back-to-back weekend displaying with both sides of the GS. It's got a go fast, knee draggin, sport bike spanking side. as well as a go anywhere, do anything in the back country aspect.
We are pleased to announce that in we will offer a semi-annual special training program in conjunction with the California Superbike School which will bring you the "Two Faces" of the BMW GS. We have put together a full weekend of incredible riding. One day at Willow Springs with Keith Code's world class Superbike coaches, followed by a weekend of off-road adventure lead by the BMW Off-Road Academy's world class trainers.
The weekend all starts at Willow Springs Raceway on Friday Morning, where we
will meet with Keith Code's team and begin our "On-Road" training. We will
spend several sessions on the racetrack, tutored on the nuances cornering
and high speed handling techniques by California Superbike School
Instructors. After each session, we will move to the "Low Speed Handling"
clinics led by RawHyde's "Ride like a Cop" program instructors. There, we
will practice the techniques used by the CHP Motorcycle division and local
law enforcement to handle their bikes at low speeds. Then after a break to
catch our breath, we will head back to the track again and continue to
enhance our skills. This is a full day program. And in typical RawHyde
tradition, some exceptional lunch and snacks will be provided by our Cordon
Bleu chefs.
Once our day is done, we will head to the RawHyde training facility for a
gourmet dinner, drinks, and some much needed rest.
On Saturday morning your Off-Road training begins! We will immerse you in
the nuances of off-road riding, beginning with the basics of balance, clutch
control, and braking, moving on to the techniques needed to manage your
Adventure-Touring motorcycle in all manner of off-road environments. Once
the weekend is complete, you will be armed with the knowledge of the true
capabilities of your motorcycle; BOTH the fast, and the dirty!
We are scheduling this special program twice a year. It is a completely
"flexible" program. on both the dirt and the track. You can do it as a
"refresher" or you can use it to increase your skills. At the BMW Off Road
Academy we will have both our beginner and advanced trainers on site so you
can do a one day intro class, or take a "speed clinic" in the dirt and the
same applies to the time on the track. Beginner, intermediate and advanced
riders are all welcome
One more thing - Would you like a chance to take BMW's new S1000RR Superbike for a spin? No problem... you will absolutely have a chance to do so. At a dealership you can only look at the bike, but here with this unique opportunity you can put the S1000RR Superbike through its paces in the environment it's meant to run in...
